I remain surprised that these are on the street with us, and require no additional licensing

echnically anything in excess of 8ft6in should require an oversize load permit. The Ram 3500 DRW comes in at 96.5", excluding mirrors, so if the tires protrude more than 2.75" on each side, it’s exceeding the legal limit.

It is a slippery slope when it comes to ‘additional licensing’.

Well to be honest I could say the same for pedestrian sedans with almost 800+ hp (Fiat Chrylser) or all sorts of greatly overpowered performance cars that any regular mortal with some money can buy.

My lord!!  That’s the worst part of this.  4 rear tires and no mudflaps.

And they stick out way past the fender wells. Don’t most states require fenders?

Colorado does not. We also don't have safety inspections.

Not just mudflaps, but fender flares.

Here, the law says fenders must extend to the full tread width of the tires, which certainly helps prevent stones from being picked up and flung back onto the windshields of other cars. But I see TONS of pickups and SUVs with wide tires out past the fenders on the road, and the police seem to do nothing about it.

I pulled up next to a friend with a 2019 F-250 - absolutely bone stock, mind you - and I couldn’t see into the driver’s side window from my side, looking through my passenger’s window. I was pretty close, but still. This wasn’t a lifted truck, and I’m not driving a Ferrari F40 (unfortunately). They’re just that big even without Bro modifications.
